I have an ASUS K8V SE Deluxe.
I have seen a lot of posts that say to stay away from VIA chipsets, why is this?
I don't OC, but I want to know what to look for if I buy a new Mobo.
If the VIA chipset is so bad maybe I can sell my mobo and buy a new one.

I think it's because it's not the optimal chipset. It can make a few percentage points difference in performance and that in itself may mean something to people especially when the price difference on the motherboard is a few dollars and the price on the CPU is a couple of hundred.

I would think it is hard to recommend that people buy or use less than the best.

The loving are the daring!

It's largely a question of trust. Via has a history of unstable amd chipsets, while blaming the problem on "others". They nearly destroyed amd, because of stability problems on the via chipsets.
To this day, people still have problems with soundblaster sound, and certain via hyperions.

Yeh, just look at Dell...we won't be doing AMD due to product shortages, wait, those are over, maybe we will, wait, we can't seem to find a good platform...each step bringing them closer and closer to Intel.
