I just ran sandra benchmarking and it told me a temperature reading that was 5 degrees celsius warmer than the VIA hardware monitor on my ABIT VP6 motherboard equipped with 2-PIII 933's! Which should I believe?
It's a toss up. I'm not sure what algorithms VIA uses, or sandra for that matter, but I consider the hardware monitor on my A7V133 to be off by 10C on my cpu temps. What's your bios give you when you exit windows (rapidly), and check it?
I have the same problem with my MSI 6163 (intel BX chipset)
as the MSI's own PC Alert software AND the BIOS report numbers at least 4 celsius lower than Sandra 2001.
I must say there's a tip/info in Sandra that tells you 'Compensation Added to Tempreature Readings' but I don't know what it really is;Can anybody explain?
