After some testing (removing all components, then adding them one by one) I have figured out that my video card seems to be causing a short on my laptop. I have a GTX 560m 1.5 GB and I have kept it overclocked at 850 mhz (core) for quite some time and have thoroughly stress tested it multiple times, However, it shorted my laptop while I was in the middle of playing Planetside 2. Can someone help me identify the problem and provide a fix?

That small smell during a short is smell from some component burning up. If that smell comes from gpu that mean it's dead. And from what I can read from your post, when you unplug gpu from lap it's working and when you plug it back it's not, it's tellin' gpu is dead. Sorry.

Did you ever find a solution? I have the same gpu that also died on me while playing a game. Thinking about replacing the gpu with a new gtx560m but I don't know if the short circuiting will return or not.
