Hey all,
I upgraded my computer back in October. Since then, my video card has failed on me twice. Once back in March, and again in June, about 2 months after I received it back from an RMA.
Both times I have RMA'd my card, it was because I experienced instability with my video card. At times my computer will not show a display and will not boot, other times, it will begin to boot only to cycle between a BSOD and restarting. Most commonly, while playing any games, and sometimes while streaming videos, my computer will crash to a colored screen with a vertical pin stripe texture. It has gotten to the point where as soon as I open a game, I will experience screen tearing and an eventual crash within the first 5 minutes. This has resulted in me removing my video card and using my on board HDMI port to at least use my
I am trying to troubleshoot why this is occurring. One thing that I have noticed is that my video card does not lay flush against the back of my case and it is loose in the pci slot.
When I insert my video card into my motherboard, I feel as if when it fully inserts, it becomes tilted away from the case. I've noticed that the top of the video card is further away from the case than the bottom. I've noticed that this occurs with the sound ports on the back of the motherboard as well. I suspect from these positionings that my whole motherboard is angled downwards from the back of my case to the front.
Could this be causing the issues with my video card? Or could this be an issue with my power supply? And if there is a misalignment between my case and my motherboard, is there a way for me to tell if it is due to my case? I've had this case since 2007 when I first build my computer. I had not issues with my motherboard's alignment then. Everything was flush.
Is there any other information that could be useful?
