Video Card suggestion

Hi everyone....... I just purchase a bunch of parts for my new computer and i need to decide on a video card.
I just bought

I need to decide which video card to get.... i was going to get the 9800XT but i'm really confused..... I read the Buyer's Guide... is this Coolsquitle person reliable??
I need help! The card needs to have one DVI and one Analog for my two monitors and money is not a problem.........

Money not a problem?! Get a 9800XT, and get me one while ur at it. Coolsquirtle is very reliable, but has an nVidia bias. I have a general ATI bias due to higher image quality, but their new logo is stupid--but they still make the two best cards though (9800XT and the 9800 Pro). Also, good luck trying to find a 9800XT, their low quantities will really become apparent wihtin a few weeks when everyone is sold out. If you cant find one, go with a 9800Pro and overclock the sh!t out of it.

btw: that is one kickass system you have...

Should i switch to ATi?? i have heard bad things about them........Maybe this CoolSquitle can answer my question?

I've honestly always been an nVidia buyer/fan until a few months ago with the benchmark cheating incident. Now the fact that the 5900 Ultra's DX9 capabilities aren't even that of the 9600Pro, i've become even more skeptic. (oh yeah, ATi has pretty much always had better image quality as well)

I agree that ATi has had some problems (mainly driver related), but they aren't anything to worry about now.

For a computer like yours (not to mention a budget like yours) your only choices are the 9800 Pro or 9800XT. Trust us. Heh heh.

I prefer Nvidia. I just think they made a fairly large mistake with the FX line. Hopefully they can compensate next time.

oh really.......hmm.. i should reconsider..... recently i purchased a Apple G5 for Multimedia... this comp is mainly for games.... i'm planning on playing HL2 and DOOM3 when it comes out as well as Final Fantasy 11. Is 9800XT the best choice? I would like to know the reason as well

The Radeon 9800 series will have better DX9 performence especaily in Half Life 2 as recent testings has shown. Most people have simply lost trust in Nvidia due to accusations of driver optimizations and whatnot

DAMN, you do have an unlimited budget...G5?!?! but that's beside the point, the reason taht the 9800XT is better is because of the fact taht in order for the 5900 Ultra to get anywhere close in terms of fps, it needs to utilize the DX8 code path of those games. This means that the quality of the image will be tremendously lower due to a lack of some newer shaders and otherwise inferior shaders. Overall, if you want to the run those games "the way it's meant to be played," you need either a 9800Pro or a 9800XT. What's more is that with the XT, you will also have higher framerates than any FX, with better image quality.

Trust us when we say the 9800XT is THE best gaming card out on the market right now.

OIC, that makes sense...nice work landing that job. anyway, ATi and Asus both have the 9800XT available. The ATi version can be found at www.ATi.com, on the home page. The Asus version is currently not available. I would recommend the Asus version when it comes out due to a higher quality heatsink fixture and mainly because of dynamic overclocking, which turns up the processor speed as your playing a game as needed.

What a problem he has on Vid card. He has TI4600 I have TI4200 works for me for now. Since I don't have $500 sitting around collecting dust. Or burning a whole in my pocket.

I'd go with the 9800 Pro. It performs pretty much exactly the same( a few percentage points difference) as the 9800XT and costs WAY cheaper. But if you want to blow your friends away with the best system money can buy your only option is the 9800XT.

haha, yeah, my Ti4400 is perfectly fine for me...i dont even game so I might even go for a matrox parhelia 256MB for my next computr, which costs more than a 9800XT. since i plan to upgrade next fall, i better start asking my parents now.

what's this Matrox u speak of? sorry i'm not familiar with Graphics card, the only brand i ever used was nVidia
