Hello,
I have i5 3570k @ 4ghz, 16gb 1600 ram. I want to upgrade my card from a GTX 970 4gb to a 1060 6gb or 1070 8gb. Which one should I go for and will I really notice a bump.I use pc for gaming and plan on keeping games at 1080p. With one of these cards will I be able to play on high and get decent frames?

I agree with mbilal2 the cost to move to a 1060 it would be better spent to move to a new platform either I5 8XXX or Ryzen 2XXX , since that card is still north of $300 and it would a minimal improve as far as gaming.
I would not upgrade to either until you are unhappy with current gaming framerates....(certainly a 1060 might not even be noticeably faster , depending on the game...)

The 1070 would give the best experience at 1440P, and the 1060 is just fine at 1080P, with the 1060 (6 GB) having the best experience at the most details of the 1060 variants...

You can choose to get immediate benefit or invest in the long term. The performance gain going from GTX 1060 to 1070 is quite significant but so is the price increase. So all of this depends on your budget.

Not long from now, you'll have to upgrade your rig. I would recommend saving up and buying a 1070 or upgrading your whole rig after the launch of the new cards in the near future.

Upgrading from a 970 of a 1060 is neither economical not that beneficial.
