Video filetype recognition issue

Have downloaded video music from youtube site for years without incident. Usually the MP4 file was the preferred. I how find that, once downloaded to the video folder, the file icon is completely blank and no longer plays. Well over twenty instances and there have been no issues with the Windows 7 86bit home version. No longer see a way to upload an image and so will attempt to attach on should someone reply. Much thanks as I await an answer.

Try changing the extension to .mp4
