Video game freezes during explosions, please help!

So I have this video game called Joint Task Force and a while ago it used to run perfectly with medium graphic settings. Now however it freezes during explosions even with the lowest quality settings possible on my PC. One more thing: it also has a map editor which doesn't open, it says file type registration failed. Whatever you need to know tell me ind the comments and I will provide you the information.

Yes. Try Right clicking the shortcut > properties > compatibility > check "Run this program in compatibility for" > Windows XP

I dowloaded this gamebooster and could you tell me what the numbers in the left-upper corner show, mine are somewhere around 20, 22 or 24 usually.

That is your frames per second(FPS).

Is that low?

That is a bit low for a game with such low requirements but you never posted your full system specs.

which service pack, my OS is windows 7 32 bit

I also formated my hard drive and reinstalled windows, but that didn't help much, for some time i could play without problems then they came back
