Question Video memory in game is more than the dedicated video memory.

Hey, I have a Nvidia Geforce GT 730 which has 1 GB VRAM and whenever I play a game the memory available in the game is 4GB (4027 mb) which is exactly similar amount as the shared system memory. What can I do to get it back to 1GB since it's eating my RAM

Total available Graphics Memory : 5096 MB
Dedicated Video memory: 1024 MB
System video Memory: 0 MB

Are you actually using the GT 730? Where is your monitor plugged in?

So it's plugged into the port below where all your USB, ethernet and other cables are plugged in? I just noticed you posted the specs in first post.

The shared memory is only used when a game actually needs it. If it's not affecting your actual available memory, don't worry about it. Edit - I should also mention that the only things you can do, if the system is using too much shared memory when playing a game, is to add more ram to the system or get a GPU with more video ram built in.

About a week ago it used to work perfectly well and when gaming the video memory was 1024 MB and i was just pleased with that but now i think its using the shared system memory coz when gaming now its 4072 MB same as the shared system memory.....Can my GPU be faulty maybe?

What game are you playing? What resolution have you set in game? Did you change any graphics settings like render resolution or render scaling? What is the max resolution of your monitor?

Am playing GTA V....I used to play it without any issues.....I have set 1600900 resolution and I haven't changed any resolution or setting or scaling....My max resolution is 1600 900

It's possible recent patches changed how the game uses video memory and lowered your performance. Losing fps in GTAV/Online has happened before many times in the past.

You didn't list your CPU, so I can't tell you what is a good temperature for it. Generally temperatures below 50c at idle and below 70c under game load, is a good place for it to be. It's possible your CPU is overheating and you would need to download and install a program like Core Temp 1.16 to get the CPU temperature.

If the CPU is not overheating, I'd say your only other real option for better fps is probably to install a better GPU like a GT 1030 GDDR5 2GB version, RX 550 4GB version or something faster if you can budget for it.

Intel core i5 2400 @3.10 HZ......My CPU doesn't overheat as well
