Andrew, Quick Sync in NOT GP (if GP is "General Purpose") and is NOT GPU at all. QuickSync IS *specialized* (not GP) transcoding pipeline with specialized VLIW instructions, that works in parallel with GPU in Intel HD Graphics 2000/3000 engine. And, of cource, opposition between GPGPU and specialized VLIW media engines, such as Intel Media Pipeline is absolutely correct.

Yeah. Lame article in that it does not take a look at the best on the software/CPU side of encoding which is x264 and maybe specifically x264 as used via Handbrake.
