Video won't initialize until after POST/BIOS.

I have a newly installed GTX 670 that won't initialize until I'm all the way into Windows. It's really frustrating that I cannot configure my BIOS settings. I'm pretty sure I can get into BIOS too, except there's no point because I have no video!

I have a Intel DP67BG motherboard. I've tried using the other DVI port and the HDMI as well to no avail. I believe my next course of action would be to reset the BIOS to defaults using the jumper pins but I think I've already done that when I had initial problems setting up the GTX 670 (but I couldn't see the POST screen at this point either).

I've been using Tom's Hardware for over a decade now but I never bothered to register! So hello to you all :)

Donot try shit.Open the GPU if you can and then use the inbuilt motherboard VGA/DVI/HDMI whatever you have.
This will boot your PC up with the inbuilt processor/motherboard graphics.

If it shows that Intel letter screen,everything is allright and then it will be time for you to contact NVIDIA Support.

Something Really Different : You mentioned that you have updated your BIOS.If you cannot see the options,how did you do that?You must know that it is something really dangerous as if something goes wrong,you will not be able to recover your BIOS Firmware even if you cry and try removing that teensy little Jumper.

So dont do this 😀

And try the steps I mentioned.Any more problem,give a reply. 😀

I've already updated the BIOS awhile back to the latest and I did so again. However, this time since I could not see anything until after I get into Windows, my computer I guess was waiting for input from the keyboard. I had no idea what to do so I pressed Enter and had to do a manual restart. Scared the crap out of me because I was installing the BIOS again.

Computer still won't show any video until Windows. If it helps, I have two monitors hooked up; primary is by DVI and secondary by HDMI. When Windows starts, the secondary HDMI monitor shows up first before the main DVI one does.

I've really had it with this motherboard. It's been giving me troubles for years now (Intel DP67BG). Another problem I have with it is whenever I shutdown my computer, I have to manually power it off. It'll act as if it's shutting down, powering off the hdds but it's still running. But that's besides the point here. I'd like to get into my BIOS first off haha.

I've tried taking out the CMOS battery right before this post and nothing happened. I just remembered my mobo has that Intel B2B (Back-to-Bios) button in the back. I think it's another way to force the BIOS to run its defaults so I might try that.

So I tried a different monitor and it didn't make a difference. I then switched back to my old gpu card (6870 HD) and I was able to see everything from the BIOS, Windows loading screen, logging in, etc. I switched back to the new Galaxy GTX 670 and same problem; unable to see anything until I get into Windows. With the GTX 670, my main monitor doesn't even show anything until I'm several seconds already logged on which is quite frustrating when my secondary monitor is already showing the desktop.

So it's got to be this new graphics card that's causing the "problem". I may try to reinstall drivers...not sure if that would help.

Oh, whilst messing around with this problem, I was able to fix my inability to shutdown my computer! So at least that's fixed.

I used Intel's Express BIOS update which should automate everything and not require and keypresses. I've done it before and it'll update the BIOS from Windows and restart on its own. Which was why I was confused to why it was stalled after nearly 15minutes of what I'm guessing was a prompt during POST. Regardless, I manually restarted the computer and was greeted with a "yay you updated the BIOS successfully."

Anyways, I tried hooking up only the DVI and was met with the same outcome; screen won't show anything until I'm well into Windows. I hooked up just HDMI monitor for kicks, it does the same thing but the video shows up about 8-10 seconds before the DVI monitor can. With both together, HDMI will show up first then the DVI, but again, I'm already about a minute or so into Windows.

If it's something related, I looked at my display options and I noticed when I installed the 670, I got a new "monitor" hooked up that wasn't there before. It's called "Generic Non-PnP Monitor" and when I go into its properties its adapter type is named "Microsoft Basic Display Driver".

When it's enabled, I sometimes get windows "stuck" in that "monitor" and can't get them back. I'll try disable this "monitor" and see what happens. But can anyone explain to me what it is? It was not there before installing this new graphics card.

This is the output in your GPU for the other DVIs and HDMIs.
But before you follow my process,you need to open your GPU and use the INTEL-BUILT slot to connect the Monitor Cable.
This will make your motherboard change its options of graphics to default as it will not detect any foreign GPU.
If this step shows the INTEL page on the next reboot,contact Nvidia Support.

I have a DH61WW board and I am talking about this jack.

Not sure what you are saying. My mobo doesn't have onboard video, if that's what you're referring to. I already tried setting the BIOS to set video to Auto and PEG, both get the same results.

Remember, I'm able to see my BIOS just fine with a different graphics card. It's just this Galaxy GTX 670 that is giving me troubles; I can't see any video until I'm about a minute into Windows. No video during POST, Windows loading, or logging in.

Oh Im sorry actually I thought that your motherboard had an onboard video.But since you are saying that "Remember, I'm able to see my BIOS just fine with a different graphics card.",I think you should contact NVIDIA through Live Chat from their official site.

They can help you exactly and even arrange for a replacement if there is a technical glitch.

After lots of frustration, swapping video cards back and forth, I still can't fix my problem. The thread I linked to describes my problem but I can't replicate the fix. My BIOS doesn't have the same options as his.

I'm really thinking it has something to do with the monitor that doesn't exist in my system. It's labeled as 1 and I think all the signals are going to it from POST to Windows login. I have no idea how to get rid of it!

I've used driver sweeper to get rid of any old ATI drivers (previous vid card was a 6870) and cleaned up the Nvidia ones too. I installed the latest Nvidia drivers.

Yeap, I've already tried reinstalling drviers and even tried beta drivers (which broke my computer). My two monitors DO show Nvidia Geforce GTX 670 as the adapter type. It's just that odd display monitor that doesn't exist, that's showing the Microsoft adapter type. It's labeled as monitor 1 and I think it's screwing up my system during boot

Do one thing.
Please follow this step.
Download INTEL Desktop UTILITIES (latest version)
Install It.
Go to the "Detail" Subdivision under the System Information area and send a screenshot.
I have an i3 with an Nvidia GPU so this looks like this.

Device Type : Video
Device Description : Intel(R)HD Graphics
Device Status : Disabled

This shows for me.

Tell what is showing in yours.I also have Windows 8 Enterprise 64Bit but never saw any issues like this one.

Like I said, my mobo has no onboard video so Intel HD Graphics wouldn't show up at all. I looked in the Desktop Utilites and nothing about Intel HD Graphics.

I still can't fix the problem...
