View Settings BUG - Icons hijacked List

This problem started a couple of months ago, after inserting a USB memory drive into my PC running Win XP SP3.

In Windows Explorer I always set my folders to View > List.

When I plugged in the Flash memory, the view switched to 'Icons'. And it reverts to Icons
no matter what.

Every time Icons is reset to List, after rebooting it's Icons, again. Nothing can solve this AFAIK.

I've tried registry fixes, registry cleaners, tweaks on the Web, Nada.

Windows Explorer just will NOT settle at 'List'.

If you already tried all you can find, next step would be a clean Windows setup. Did you run a virus scan also? Was this your own USB stick?

Did you check another user account to see if that view saves properly?
