Hey there!

I am in the market for a new monitor. I can get a viewsonic PF790 19" CRT or a Viewsonic P90F 19" CRT. I know the P90F is a new model and I don't even think they are making the PF790 anymore (I found a store that still has a couple). I think the PF790 has a trinitron tube, but the P90F has higher frequencies at righer resolutions.

Which is the better monitor? I don't care about cost and I won't consider any other monitors. Is the tube in the P90F just as good as the PF790's trinitron tube? Please help!

All things must surely have to end...

Go for the newer model with the higher refresh rates. Don't get hung up on the trinitron tube. I've had experience with several Sony Trinitron monitors over the years, and they all ended up the same way -- they fade out over a relatively short period of time.

Within 3 years, you may find you have the brightness and contrast cranked all the way up and it still looks too dark. Have even resorted to removing the case and cranking up the gain on the guns with the internal pot adjusters to get a little more time out of it.
