Im thinking of getting this
Viewsonic VX924 19inch

but i was reading the review and im unsure

i will be using it for gaming and movies

Looking to do the same thing....Not really sure to go for this one or go for the VP930B.

According to the specs of the 930B it says 8ms response. Someone said that this is actually 20ms according to the old measure method.

BTW there is a newer monitor - VX922. This is said to have a 2ms response time. The VX924 has a 4ms one. :?:

What should I go for? I am going to use it for some fast games - NFSMW, Doom3 - Watch movies on it and also use it for general work.

vx924 is in my price range, and is it a good buy?
will it keep up with dvds and games like battlefield 2 and half life and such.

I have used it on a couple of friends systems. Gameplay is fast and smooth. Color reproduction is also very good. I did see a couple of reviews on THG that says that its not really suitable for video playback but even those played well on the VX924!

I did not notice any kind of color probs. etc. Its a great monitor. I find a price difference of about $60 - $ 70 between it and the VP930 which has portrait mode.

If u want an idea from da user of Vx924, here I am 😛

First of all, my first ideas about this product seems very positive.. However that 550:1 contrast ratio isn't really good, on some games I had to change brightness and contrast ratio.. Btw it was first out 4ms then they changed it to 3.. The other product, Vx922 is well - better than Vx924.. Btw if u really play games too much u must get Vx922 or Vx924.. If u do lot of things usually (wathing films, using photo(photoshop) programs or some grapchics etc.) I prefer u to get a Vp930.. It's da best Lcd now.. I dunno how cost that lcd's in your countries but if u a really gd gamer I suggest u to buy Vx924 or Vx922.. if theres not much cost between Vx922 and Vx924 then get a Vx922.. It changes a lot in my country thats y I am tellin u.. if u have any questions, u can surely ask..

Good Luck :)

What was it about the reviews that made you unsure? I picked one up last month and intended on using it for development purposes. I watch the occasional dvd/divx and play some games here and there. I have no complaints so far. No dead pixles. So from experience, I don't think you will be disappointed. This monitor is definately top of the line. In fact I'm debating on putting another one on the desk so I can get rid of the CRT. But this of course won't happen until the price comes down some more.

i heard about bleeding backlight on the edge of the monitor...any of u have that kind of probs...? im thingking to get one too... it's selling on great price at my country...

what u mean with bleeding? The only thing I can say about blacklight is; on very black screens (like loading times with a black background like Counter Strike Source) u can see black lights effect. However on other backgrounds its really clear and makes no prob..

I was toying with the same thought for ages, and seeing as im a brit living in taiwan, the choice is fairly good, i say fairly! But anyhow i ended up getting the Viewsonic VX924 for $10800 Taiwan dollars, which, is about 190 british quids or 280 Euro's. I ended up being very happy with the monitor, its supposed to me 3ms according to the box, but i read a review in THG which wasnt terribly forthcoming with compliments, but overall thought it was good, just not as good as it was suggesting it was, if that makes sense, but i was very happy with it, its a bit bright, i had to turn the brightness all the way down on mine, lest i be blind!! but the games run fine, been playing FEAR, HL2/CSS/LC GTR FIA GT Racing, COD2, all look fine, and basically I dont notice any blurring, i mean i do on Dawn of War, quite alot infact, i dont know why that is tho, but the others are mint, anyway hope my ramblings help you out, i dont know if its the best, but i was happy with it, and i would hazzard a guess that you would be too.

cheers, best of luck with deciding!

cheetsy

P.S. I havent noticed any backlighting problems, but saying that i turned my brightness all the way down, cos this is a very bright monitor, but ive had no problems, no dead pixels, yet anyway, and video playback is fairly good and games have been fine, Im very very happy with it.

well said cheetsy... thx alot! will try to get the VX922... and see which one shld i take... will write up here after i got one...
