Afternoon,

I currently have the SuperHub II by Virgin media as my cable router, It doesn't have a security feature I am after and doesn't have DynamicDNS (which I would like). I have been looking at other routers to replace it and done some research but don't fully understand the requirements.

For a cable ISP, do I need to buy a new Cable wifi modem which will replace virgin media hub all together.

Or

Turn Virgin media hub into a modem (using it's modem mode) and connecting up another router to that?

I know Superhub has a modem mode but is it possible to remove that from the equation all together?

Thanks

Solution
You could replace with a cable modem, but it would have to be an approved VM model and they would have to provision it on their network and good luck getting that done.

Just use the SH2, as a modem, it is very reliable.

Thanks for such a fast reply, Can I ask why the Super Hub is still required? Has anyone replaced it with a cable modem instead and seen what happens?
