Changed to the rear audio port because I noticed a slight hiss from the front port with new headphones. (Unshielded cables connecting the front jack probably creating the hiss)

Virtual 7.1 which worked from the front audio jack doesn't work from the back. Doesn't matter if I select "Headphone" or "Front Speaker Out" when I plug in the device, I can only hear left and right audio on the surround test.

Any ideas?

Make and model of your headset? Does the virtual surround come back to life if you connect to the front panel port(again)? You may also want to see if the same issue compounds on perhaps another case's front panel. If I were you, I'd ask the seller to replace the case due to manufacturer defect on the front panel.

Make sure you're on the latest BIOS update for your motherboard.

Headphones
1. Sennheiser HD 598 Cs (new set)
2. Turtle Beach XO Three (old set)

The 7.1 works from the front port with both sets and doesn't work from rear with both.
The hiss is barely audible, it's what happens with all front I/O ports on any PC case, it's due to the front ports being connected via cable running past electrical components while the rear I/O comes directly off the board to a shielded headphone cable.
It's not a defect, most people can't even hear it but there is a very, very slight difference.

The problem is that the rear 7.1 is broken.
Which is very strange because Drivers/BIOS/Chipset is all up to date. I only have Realtek drivers installed. No NVidia audio drivers to conflict.
