virtual box screwed my LAN

i installed oracle's virtual box and since then my lan card went into a sleep mode! gives error 10. device cannot be started. i've tried formatting the system to XP. tried resetting the bios too. still the same error! installed 64 bit win 7 again.

Have you tried to reload the lan drivers? I know when Virtual Box and other vm software install, they install a couple of virtual network adapters, which can conflict with homegroup network setups... but haven't heard of them killing existing physical network adapters before. So uninstall the lan drivers and install new ones from the manufacturers website and see how you go.
