Virus causing shutdown

My Toshiba Satellite won't start up. It powers on for 1, 2, 3, 4 seconds and then abruptly shuts down. This happens in normal or safe mode. Beyond that, right before this problem, the keyboard and touchpad weren't working properly. Plus, had automatic shutdown in middle of malware scan. This seems pretty bad.

Any thoughts? Thanks much.

It seems to shut down at various different times in the process. Sometimes immediately, sometimes after I am able to start Windows normally. When I get to Windows, the keyboard and touchpad are not functioning properly. Either not typing a key, or just continually doing a string of symbols. The problem with trying to load up using a CD (I think I downloaded Kspinsky sp?) is that when I get to that screen, I can't use the keyboard to select any options.
