Greetings. Yesterday I was out and about, downloading files from the internet, until i accidentally downloaded a virus. Kaspersky detected it as a Trojan and it has created multiple files under its own name in my local appdata temp folders (accessible through %temp%). After that, I left my computer. When i powered it on today, I have noticed that my WiFi isn't connected, and when i try to, it doesn't. Additionally, my homes' WiFi is the only WiFi that shows up, no other one. I also saw a slowdown in my PC, but i could just be thinking that. Could this be a result of the virus, or did i break something with my network adapter while tinkering inside my PC yesterday night? My 2012 PC brine because of network issues, it kept disconnecting, and the OS mysteriously uninstalled, and i am afraid i have caught the same virus and am at huge risk. Should I be resetting my while PC? Doing so would be a hard time because it takes me a while to download all nessasary programs and files. I am currently using system restore to about a week ago. Any support is greatly appriciated.

"Could this be a result of the virus"
yes

"or did i break something with my network adapter while tinkering inside my PC yesterday night"
That's a possibility as well

Have you downloaded Malwarebytes? Malwarebytes often is able to remove infections even when other scanners fail to remove them fully. How do I know? I've used it to remove multiple infections from multiple computers.
If Malwarebytes can't get rid of it you might have to try "Hijack this".

No, I think you have damaged it. If you can check the card by putting the card in another pc or putting a different card in your pc mostly solves the problem.
Best of luck!

If you have visited a dodgy web site recently a virus may have affected your Svchost.exe and could be gathering info and it can spread. Go to services.msc and stop the process.
Click on the Svchost and check it's location. If it is anywhere but in the C:\Windows\System32 folder then it's most certainly Malware.

"darklord, i have kaspersky and since i cannot connect to internet i cannot download malware bytes"
ah, been there, in that situation I typically use a good computer download malwarebytes onto a USB and plug the USB into the infected PC.

This is a very real possibility.

"did i break something with my network adapter while tinkering inside my PC yesterday night"
"i don't know what a network card looks like. This pc was originally prebuilt if that helps."
So what were you tinkering with then? Were you inside the computer case?

Yeah i was. It doesn't matter no more cause i already reset the pc. It seems faster now, but internet still doesn't work. I'm pretty sure i just broke the internet adapter. Im just going to go to best buy or something and buy one of those USB wifi adapters.

My router is in my attic. I don't think i can find a lan port that long that itd go from my room up a staircase and around it. Also wouldn't be the most convinient having a staircase blocking everyones way 24/7.
