Vista / Status Oxc000014c / Win failed to load because sys reg. is missing or co

Hello All,
I am getting this message on Win VISTA:
- Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt. Status: Oxc000014c.

I do not have Vista CD/DV to reboot from it.
What is the fix for this problem? My laptop is Lenovo

Start your laptop and immediately keep pressing F8.
From the startup options, choose "Last known good configuration"
Press <Enter>
