Also to remember that you can only "upgrade" 32 bit to 32 bit or 64 bit to 64 bit. If you are going from 32 bit to 64 bit, you'll have to do a clean install of Win 7.

Thanks one more question I bought the upgrade version of windows 7 ultimate and it came with both the 32 and 64 bit versions, right now I'm running 32 bit version of vista can I do a clean install of windows 7 64 bit with the upgrade version?

cool...thanks, one thing the article didn't mention is that when I perform the clean install, will windows 7 ask me if i want to delete the partitions that are set up in my drives, I have vista in one partition I want to delete to install windows 7.
