voice recognition problem

The 'Teach your assistant to recognize your voice' function of my phone, Asus Zenfone Max m2 is not working. It's stuck at the first step where we have to say 'ok Google'. I tried saying it as clearly as possible. Can't be a problem in microphone cause I tested it and also the phone is new. Updated Google too. So what else might be the problem

Not familiar with that phone. However, I would work my way through all of the configuration settings and ensure that I understood what each one does.

No immediate need to change anything. Just look carefully and note any toggles or configuration settings that appear relevant. May be some privacy setting or a checklist that controls the applications permitted to use the microphone.
