I plugged a 2nd hand graphics card into my Asus B250M motherboard and the machine stopped powering up. I've taken the board out and, with only the CPU and the power connector plugged in, when I switch on the PSU a Voltage Regulator (I think) between 2 PCIe sockets gets extremely hot (it's got UTC UZ2085G AD010KTG on it). I'm assuming this means the board is unrepairable? It's not worth much - I'm guessing not.

What would that be?

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model.

That's a transistor. Perhaps the board now has a short due to the GPU or your PSU. You could try and find the source of the short and repair it...but your mileage can and will vary.

Thanks for the response, apologies for not including the graphics card or other info, I didn't think it was relevant for this particular issue . I can see it could have been relevant.

Closing thread as the OP has started a new one for the same issue here;
