Volume and brightness adjustment problem

Hello friends,
I have a laptop and when i press "Fn+volume button",volume increses slightly and suddenly doesnt increase or decrease and after sometime it automatically responds.Same happens with brightness also.
So,is there problem in windows 8 or in my laptop?
If it is windows 8 problem then should updating solve it?

Download the drivers and try re-installing them. This can probably solve the problem!
