I have only had this card since last Sept. and this weekend it stopped working. How can I tell if this card overheated or has anyone heard of this card failing before. I did not overclock this card. My wife started up the computer and the display had reduced from 1024x768x16bit to 640x480x16
then the display was gone all together. Any Ideas?

Drivers are buggy. Sometimes they go on vacation and forget to tell you. First go to 3dfx.com and locate the latest V3 drivers and download them. If they arent there, I know someplaces around the net still have them. Go to your display properties under control panel and change the driver to standard vga display (they may already be there). After you reboot, locate the new driver pack and install it. This should work, ive had the V3 before, overclocked in a hot case and never had any trouble with it. Good luck!

I tried to reinstall the drivers as you say but no luck it wiil not display even the Std. VGA..Thanks anyway! Is it possible that the card BIOS crashed can it be flashed again and how do I do it and where can I find one? Thanks!

To date Ive never heard of being able to flash a voodoo bios. Two things to try though. First take the card out and lightly clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol and dry with a lint free cloth, while its out give it a good once over to make sure nothing looks unusual. Reinstall, make sure its in there good. Before you plug in that monitor, check the pins, some are usually missing by design, but make sure there are no bent pins or lint. Once that is done, make sure your monitor is getting power and plugged in securely. Ive had a monitor go out one evening and I was stumped for a good half hour thinking my ATI card failed. Keep me posted! I have a few voodoos for sale! (and a geforce2 gts with 3d glasses)

Thanks for your help so far. I have my old ATI card installed and it works fine so I know my AGP slot works and my monitor and connections work fine. The voodoo card is dead. I'm looking to bye a new card what do you suggest my system is as follows: PII 350MHz, 128MB, 100FSB, 440BX MOBO. I have been looking at a Herc. Prophet II MX 32MB AGP. What do you think?

Nowadays I wouldnt go with anything less than a Voodoo5, GeForce GTS, or perhaps a radeon. I may get a lot of arguements on this but it dont make sense to go with anything less regardless of your computers power(unless were talkin a pentium175. You never know when youll be struck with the upgrade bug, but with all these cheap prices on the 1.333 and the new P4 1.7 at a possible $300, youll have one less component to buy if you do it. Sorry about your voodoo -=sniffle=- recycle her so she may live again -=sob sob=-

I have flashed several times the bios of my Voodoo 3 2000 PCI with SGRAM memory.

You just need the flasher and the bios file, right now I don't remember where I found them...

Update my Voodoo3 card may not be dead. I installed the card on another machine and the windows sceen came on the monitor so I tried to reinstall it on my machine and I noticed that my monitor goes into suspend mode as soon as the computer starts to boot. Any ideas on how to get my monitor to stop going into suspend mode at startup. I can install my old ATI card without it going into suspend mode but not the Voodoo card. Please help. Thanks!

My voodoo 3 3000 went 2 weeks ago was having a heat problem, it was getting extremely hot so hot it was heating my heatsink on my cpu, temps were in the high 50c changed the card and there back down to norm... an hour later it died..installed my viper 770 and it worked fine installed voodoo in old system and it never came back on...

patsvette, when your card died how did your compu. act did it go black on the monitor or were you able to see your desktop in VGA mode?

first i started to get weird colors things that were blue were green and reds were pink....etc..then i would boot up and just get a black screen and if i tried several times it would come on but if iturned it off it wouldnt come back on till it cooled off...hope it helps.

oh one more thing i had to reload drivers in several times right before it finally died and it would still only show standard vga...
