I have a Dell Vostro 1710 and my processor is a t5670 the socket numbers are mpga478mr. The mainboard is an LA 4131 p. What is the fastest processor on motherboard can handle?

Core 2 Duo T9500.
Just because this CPU appear to be faster in paper it may not translate to real world performance.
Depending what you do there might not be a noticeable difference in performance. Unless you have some apps that require some serious calculation.
It will make more sense to max the RAM to 4 GB (2x 2GB) and use a SSD instead of a HDD.
