OH... MY... GOD... Content-Aware Fill is my new best friend *cry*

The amount of time I spent doing EXACTLY what this tool is showing me, could have saved me SO MUCH TIME

If this is true, it will be the very best thing Adobe have ever created!

I will pay for this kind of functionality! I spend hours every week doing exactly those touch ups, hours of life given back to me :)

content aware. THE reason to buy CS5.

but this has a down side...how many photo manipulating companies are gonna go bust now???

None, making things simpler means prices can be lowered and more clients can get access to the services, which means everyone benefits (It's not like Photoshop can turn you into an artist or designer, it can't).

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but i was in my uber-cool mode when i saw what could be done with gpu acceleration and filters as cs4 was preparing to launch (don't get me started on flash cs4 which is a pain in the rear) .. but the end product proved to be disappointing, it didn't live up to the expectations. I might be reserved on this one, but i doubt that the finished product, cs5, will be anything close to this. Final argument .. it's Adobe we're talking about.

Let's face it

Freaking amazing...this is the single coolest feature in photoshop ever. I work as a graphic designer, and do web too. This would save me so much time I don't even know what to do...I want to cry, really long and hard.

[citation][nom]aethm[/nom]Wow... gotta say. I'm impressed. I may actually buy this..[/citation]
Make sure you have allot of $ with you. It is not a cheap program.
I have the poor mans Photoshop (Photoshop Elements) and it does a nice job on my Mini Mac. I use the clone stamp to clear out cross hairs and the likes in game screenshots to make wallpapers for my gaming computer, works great.

This is the foreground tool http://www.siox.org/
combined with some statistical analysis and this: http://grail.cs.washington.edu/projects/videoenhancement/videoEnhancement.htm
(Look at the test pictures. In the third, the software generated a good fitting replacement piece of tree cortex.

Thus what adobe could be doing would be a combination of these three. It might work, but that doesn't mean it will work always right of course. These kind of algorithms are always very fragile in complicated situations.

I'm hoping someone will with these links be able to make a free & Open Source plug in that also works with Gimp.

(I still think the content-aware scaling from CS3 is crap. It might give good results but things in your pictures will have wrong dimensions. You get size distortions. I really don't like that. )
