Hi

I've just installed VPNNetmon. The program checks my connection every 100~500ms to ensure that my VPN is connected. If my VPN disconnects for any reason VPNetmon will kill the application I specify (i.e browser, ...).

My question is, is 100~500ms fast enough? What if my browser makes a connection to the target website in 40ms?

VPNetMon shuts down your browser when it detects that the VPN has disconnected. But isn't it already too late? As soon as the VPN disconnects, aren't the URLs you were browsing instantly logged by your ISP? Before VPNetMon can shut your programs down?

It depends on how the VPN is configured. The common way is all traffic is forced down the VPN. If the connection to the vpn service goes down the traffic is still attempted to be sent though the vpn tunnel but it dropped.

Now this is different than if the vpn client would get unloaded somehow. That is software running on your machine and really it should not just disappear. It to a point depends on the VPN clients, some might just allow the traffic to pass it is much more likely the client puts up a warning message the vpn is down and ask what you want to do.
