VPU recovery message

hi.
I wonder if someone can help me. When im playing either farcry or colin mcrae relly 04, after a while the screen will freeze and then go back to windows with a VPU recovery message saying my graphics card has stoped working with the drivers or something along those lines and then i have to reboot.
Any ideas?

1. Install the latest Catalyst drivers.
2. If the problem persist, deactivate VPU recover from the ATI control panel.
3. If the problem persist, post again!

Thats how my problems start..... this is what i put in the radeon 9600xt thread jsut a few lines below:


I think I have a similar problem. Basically my computer runs fine and fast on the desktop, but after just a few minutes in any game (total war and morrowind) I crash or get the VPU recover. The comp aint hot and I've already tried several catalyst drivers. Any ideas?

asus a7n8x-x athlon xp-3000
1 gig pc 3200 ram ddr 400
420 psu
RADEON 9600XT 256 ram

Try disabling OVERDRIVE.
