So I know the mb's vrm heatsinks play a big role in overclocking, but, when I hit the oc limit caused by the vrms (since my cooler is really good it must be the vrms that will limit the oc's) will I see signs of the oc not being stable anymore (cpu temps too high/ screen artifacts etc) or is it just like: OK so my mb's vrms are this good, and based on reviews, i should only oc my cpu to x ghz, because if I go higher, I risk damaging the mb's vrms and never knowing

If he doesn't listen and uses that MB it either won't work at all or he will end up burning it up when he tries to OC it.

So it really doesn't matter. 😉

He will end up having to get another MB anyway and maybe another CPU on top of it.
Idk man but the z390s are like $200 here and i don't quite have those money
And a z370 is just like $130, and I even found a returned z370 Tomahawk discounted to also $130 from like $170

And i searched for reviews on the Tomahawk and the vrms seem to be pretty damn good

Whatever let's say I get the cheapest z390. It's gonna cost like 200$ and yes it's gonna have some cool features and upgrades and also 9th gen compatibility but the vrms are gonna be worse than on the z370 tomahawk because the z390 would be a low-end z390 while the tomahawk is a mid-end z370

And there's one more thing.. It just don't feel good spending 200$ on a mb for a $250 cpu.. Does it? I mean a z370 imo would be fine for even an i7 or 8th gen not-oc i9

Please correct me if I'm wrong

Also should I list my full wishlist here?

The cheapest Z390 motherboards are complete total garbage, worse than any Z370 MB.

How about just getting a nice Z370 MB and an 8th generation CPU like a 8600K.

The Z370 Tomahawk is tolerable, actually pretty decent for the money.

I found an 8600k it's like $40 more than the 9600k but I'm getting the pc in a few weeks anyway so maybe i'll get a discount

However do you think that would be a good idea since 10th gen is being launched in a few months
