Wait for 400 Series AMD Motherboards?

Should I buy an AMD 300 series board now or wait for 400 series to release in March/April? I'm not sure what the benefits are of waiting. I currently use an MSI Gaming Pro B350M and was going to buy an Asus B350F if I was to buy a 300 series board

Since the price of RAM isn't coming down in our lifetime, it might be worth waiting out a generation of motherboard/processor. AMD seems to be promising that their new Ryzen CPUs will work in the older (300 series) boards, but it's always nice to have a generational CPU/motherboard match, so waiting for the new CPU and motherboard combination makes some sense. Prob'ly comes down to how patient you are...

I think it's really hard to say since nobody is talking about exactly what you'll get with the 400 series chipsets. Specific information on details like Zen+/Zen2 processor performance on a 300 vs. 400 series chipset, PCIe lanes and generation, USB ports and generation and things like that would help make an informed decision. Just saying 'more/better' simply isn't enough.

But there is one thing that does worry me since I'm a current B350 mobo owner. I'm concerned some mfrs will simply choose not to offer BIOS support for Zen2 or even Zen+ on at least some of their current crop of AM4 motherboards. Considering how 'bare-bones' much of the current AM4 product offerings are it would certainly make sense if the plan was to create a stratified product stack all along: 400 series mobo's are the premium boards and that's where we'll support Zen2 (maybe Zen+). So bring the $$$.
