Current PC is an rtx 2080/i5 8400 powered HP Omen I bought on Black Friday back in 2018, and Ive been planning on grabbing a new PC this fall. No real rush to do so but hey, three months is three months! Think this or similar systems this will go down significantly around Black Friday?....this seems like a really good deal for these components from a reputable company.

Depends entirely on how "similar" you require.

How is that word defined in your personal dictionary?

The chances of any one specific PC going down significantly in price is quite low.

And rank speculation.

But if "similar" can encompass dozens of different PCs, then you obviously increase your chances.

Sorry should have been more specific! Similar really just meaning a PC with an RTX 4080 from a reputable vendor using good components. I feel like I've been kind of lucky with my omen lasting as long as it has.

I have NO idea if there are 3, 15, or 50 possible candidates with a 4080 as of today. You probably would know.

If there are only 3, your chances of a significant price reduction on any of those 3 on Black Friday are small.

Maybe your dictionary has a peculiar definition of "significant".

A common tactic is:

August 1; PC is 2000

October 1; PC is 2200

Black Friday; PC is on a fabulous how can you possibly resist sale for 2000.

If you were willing to build it yourself, it's quite likely you could build a better PC for less money than you'd have to spend on Black Friday even if you get lucky then............but I am guessing you refuse to build your own.

It's hard to call this a particularly *good* deal. If you budget $1500 or so for the GPU/CPU they offer here, that leaves you with nearly $900 to get the rest, and that's where Lenovo's going to be stingy. Notice the lack of specificity with the rest of the build; they're really going to cheap out on the non-headline parts. You probably won't get any savings building yourself as the price isn't really *bad* either, but you'll also get better parts to go with the GPU/CPU.

Not to mention a far better warranty; for example, almost all GPUs have three-year warranties with the GPU brand (at least), but those warranties are to the buyer not the person who buys from the buyer (the system integrator in this case).

Black Friday sales are not necessarily good values.
Many offered parts will be older.

If you want pre-built, I think Lenovo is one of the better outfits.

As a tip, call Lenovo sales directly and speak to a rep about your needs.
They know their products and can often offer a sale price that you would not be able to find out about yourself.
More than once, this has worked out for me.

Thanks for the advice folks.

As far as a DIY build, this omen was the first time I bought a pre-built desktop, and this is just the better path for me for a number of reasons.

A friend of mine has been using this site https://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ to have them custom build his pc's for several years and he's been real happy. They have prebuilt options too, but you can customize from a selection of components rather than strictly rely on what's in the prebuild. That can give you some control over the non-headline parts like RAM, PSU, etc. It might be worth a look.

Black Friday sales are only good if you just need to cobble something together and you don't care what or which company manufactured it.

If you're looking for something very specific or something that's already a hot-ticket item (like most video cards), you're likely not going to find a good deal, if at all.
