I like the 570 at the below link because i was told it out performs the 6950 but also like the 6950. The only issue is it has 4 display ports and 2 dvis and not sure about the display ports. Does the monitors have to have the new display port connector or is there an adaptor to transfer it to a dvi or vga or anything? I also have a 32" plasma tv that has HDMI.

The only problem with the 570 is it only does 2 displays at a time only.

there is also a asus nvidia version of this radeon card also.

You need the display port if you want to add the 3rd monitor. Remember resolution not screen size.

For your gpu. Have you had a look at the Saphire toxic yet

You can unlock it to a 6970 with flashing the bios nada

@ OP, the GTX 570 outperforms the HD 6950, HD 6970 outperforms the GTX 570 by a slight increase in performance.
If there's no Active DisplayPort to HDMI/DVI included with your Asus card you can buy an active DisplayPort to DVI/HDMI and will work fine.
Also you can have a DVI to HDMI adapter, DVI is the same as HDMI but with no built in sound.

The only problem i see with the Asus HD 6950 is that it will take 3 slots from your case and that would be a problem if you want to install more PCI cards in the future.

Yea the issue is I'm locked in to getting it through best buy. I have a gift card from a previous return that I have to use to get one so I'm limited. Plus my board is sli only right now and I only have an 850 watt psu. So I can't do crossfire right now. I do plan on down the road to get the crosshair v board but not yet.

IF you plan on SLI later you can grab the GTX 570, if you'll be running 3 monitors (eyefinity setup) so you probably would go for the HD 6950.
If you wish to run CF in the future and sell your MOBO so get the HD 6950, it's up to you anyway but the GTX 570 outperforms the HD 6950

Yea I was told the 570 does outperform the 6950 which is why I was wanting to get it. Just making sure. It's a little weird though since the specs are a little higher like memory and 2gb and all that compared to the 570 but I'm looking for performance so that works for me. As far as the space due to three slots I'm ok with it. I have the nvidia edition of the cm stacker 830 and don't have any pic slots to be used that I know of or that I can remember.

Just curious though is the performance increased between the 570 and the 6970 really worth it? Not sure if best buy even carries it though.

no, not worth it...but tell me what resolution will be using ? if you're running above 1080P you definitely will have to have the HD 6950/70, the 2 GB of VRAMwill help in higher resolutions above 1080P in order not to have a frame buffer issue

I think 720p but not sure. I don't really use my plasma tv for gaming. I usually only use it for watching Bly rays with my blu ray player on my desktop. I use my two 21 or 22" monitors for gaming. I had a gtx 470 but it got fried when I sli'd it together with another one of the same brand and everything. So I'm looking for another card but stuck with best buy store due to gift card from returning my old one.

I only have a 32"lama and like I said I think it is standard 720p but dont quote me on that. I'm usually watching tv while playing a game at the same time. So in your opinion what do u think of the asus 570? U think it's a good card and how would it perform in sli model if I did do at in e future?

Oh ok cool. I'll have to work on the funds to get another 570 like he one i looking at plus I have a hyperx 850 watt psu so I'm sure I'll have to upgrade that later on. I have a m4n 98td evo board and tried two gtx470s sli'd together with my psu and one of the 470s fried. Still haven't figured out why. Kinda halfway afraid of running two cards sli together cause of that reason

It's a 850 watt but I think the brand is HyperX. I got it a couple years ago or so at frys. It's sli ready though I think but not like I would be running sli anytime soon anyway. It's got two 8 pin connector cables but each of the two 8 pins have a 6 pin pigtail coming out of it so if I use the 8 pin on one and the 6 pin on the other that's it. I can only power one card with that one. The card that fried ki had a thermal take tr2 Rx 850 watt with 4 6 pins on it and ats the one that fried one of my 470s.

A system with a GTX 470 consumes about 380W in full load, a pair of GTX 470s in SLi would consume about 700W in full load, the thermltake you had is creepy when going SLI/CF because it doesn't deliver the required wattage.

Link the PSU you have

well the one i have only has 2 cables that have a 8 pin connector on it with a 2" 6 pin pigtail coming off it so u can either use the 6 pin or the 8 pin connector. It will only power 1 card from it. That one is a little different than the one i have. That one must have came out later than mine. Mine is not crossfire ready either. it has 2 6 pins and 2 8 pins but like i said the 6 pins are piggy backed off the 8 pin cable so u can either use one or the other. ITs funky and not sure why they did it but they did.

yea ill or sure get a better psu if or when i do sli/cf. but for now just the one 570 i think would work the best for me. Ill probably get a 1000w or above psu if i do get another one but not right now.
