Just the case and everything inside. i'm trying to stay under not including shipping. if any of you can pick this apart and make any suggestions i'd be greatly appreciative. At this budget, that is a waste of money. It is better to spend the money on a better GPU. An SSD will not do anything for game performance.

See i'm learning already. Keep the ideas coming. Planning on ordering parts tonight. I have not built a computer in about 10 years so to say i'm technologicaly behidn is an understatement.

i didn't say it would boost game performance, It will boost pc overall performance and his data would be better protected. Also, the money would come from the difference of not buying an enterprise hard drive, which he does not need at all in any way. Please think before you post, and please read my posts before you comment. Also, Please explain what GPU he can buy for an extra $50.00 that is any better than the one he had posted??? Next step up is around $200.00 before he would notice any notable changes in game performance and fps..

Seriously, an ssd is not a waste of money and don't let any gpu nerds tell you to spend your money on a better gpu. You have to spend upwards of $200.00 to gain any performance over the gpu you have picked. You already have a video card picked with 2 gb ddr5 so you would have to go way over the $200.00 mark to do better.. I have installed almost every video card under 250 and very few are so different in each price range that I would completely scrap getting an ssd so I could spend another 40 or 50 on a video card unless it was the difference of me being able to get a 350-400 dollar gpu.

Ok so what do you think about this build? It's close enough to 800 i can afford it and took into account some of the changes people suggested. This here is good to go right out of the box? Do I need any additional cabling? I know some say the ssd are good but i have no experience with them. I know they help the operating system run smoother but for my limited use ofjust gaming and browsing teh web honestly it won't make much difference. Any more suggestions? My gaming now essentially consists of a few steam games and world of tanks. Hope to play elder scroll online when it comes out but willprobably upgrade before then anyway.

My suggestion: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1cjB4

I know it is $50 over budget but believe me this is a build that you will be really happy with and the little extra money is worth it. I based this one off of the fact that you initially opted for a 650 Ti and maybe gaming performance isn't totally important to you. If you do want better gaming performance then go for this build instead: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1cjvy
I own that 7870 and it is awesome for 1080p gaming. Although it does take a little power away from the rest of the build it is much better in terms of a gaming system.

swapped out the ram and decided to go with the fx-320. would your recommend a certain aftermarket cpu cooler? looking on teh new egg but not sure about what is compatible and what is not?

Not really. I am running 2 7870 oc's right now and its great, but when I had one, not so much different than 650ti. Dont care what that article or any benchmark you post says. In the real world, he is building a low to mid budget gaming pc, and with the cash he has, the SSD will give him more overall performance..(again, nothing to do with the games, mostly with OS performance and security).. and he will still be able to play games at very near the same level....Sorry to say....

i gotta disagree. the ssd only really shows noticeable benefits in boot times and a limited number of programs. ive not seen much of anyone ever suggest getting an ssd over better graphics in a gaming application, because it is a luxury. a mechanical hard drive can do the job, albeit not near as fast, it still gets the job done.

also i assume youre getting a 650ti and 650ti boost confused. the 7870 is a pretty large jump over the regular 650ti and this is noticed in real world gaming use.

i will say, i do love ssd's and think theyre worth the money, but not as an initial purchase for a budget build. later on if he decides he wants it he could get it and move the os and programs over to it. that would be money better spent on a budget, in my mind at least.

Honestly I have to disagree also. I have a Gigabyte 7870 OC and it impresses the hell out of me even now. I didn't think I would be getting the sort of performance that I do across multiple games as I did when I bought the card. One of my mates owns a 650 Ti and he gets nowhere near the sort of FPS I do at 1080p. This particular version is awesome too and worth the little extra cost over other cards, the WF3 cooler gives me <56C in winter and <65C in summer. It's excellent.

EDIT: The 650 Ti Boost is more likely what you are referring to. I still think the 7870 is worth the extra cash.

Even a 650ti BOOST will get blown away by a 7870. As for a budget gaming rig, you want to cut alot of corners so you can get the best GPU. (cheaper mobo, no SSD, 500gb HDD, cheaper case,) Its pretty common knowledge at this budget that you would take a 7870 over a 650ti and an SSD any day.
