i have a p5kpl/amps motherboard perhaps it is ddr2 but i want to buy a new graphics card under $150 my primary choices are GTS 250,GTX 260 and GTS 450 but as per the specification of those cards they are all DDR3 or GDDR3 or GDDR5.so i consulted with some dealers about that but they told me that i have to replace a DDR3 motherboard over my DDR2,but my budget is very low i can't afford another motherboard it is possible that i can use a graphics card from above and also i want to run witcher 2 and crysis 2 in very high settings so please kindly help me in this matter......

hey i am thinking what is the difference between a PCIe 16x 2.0 and PCIe 2.0 x 16
and is a p5kpl am ps motherboard supports from the above. i think the above are the specification for a gtx 460 card.If my motherboard have a PCIe 1.0 x 16 when what i will do 2 run this card and also the price of the msi nvidia gtx 460 hawk 1GB is 12000/- INR
i have a PSU of exact 450 w which is the required power for a 460 card.
which is more then my budget. Is there any other product of this card which is upto 8000-9000 INR ?
guess i run that 460 is it going to be make any problem to my dual core processor ? or i will upgrade it to core 2 quad Q8400 is this a good choice plz help.......:)
this all situation is making me to reconsider about gtx 460 and gtx 550 ti.I know that 460 is far more better than a 550 ti but 550 ti is coming around 8000 or something.

Ok, so based on your very lengthy thread you need to decide already. You have a minimum budget and are in need of a psu and a gpu so decide already and stop stringing this thread out. 460 with an appropriate gpu and if you cant decide then go to nvidia.com to figure it out. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your upgrade

No.. Older generation motherboards don't have PCIe 2.0 Slots, they have 1.0 and 1.1 slots.
However, all PCIe 2.0 and 2.1 x16 Cards are backward compatible with PCIe 1.0 and 1.1. The Difference is minimal!

And i am frm india also, and the bad news is you will not get the GTS 460 for 8000-9000 Rs, even The GTS 450 Costs Rs 10,000.
The Best Card in 8000 - 9000 range is the ATi 6770, which will max out most games at 1280 x 800 resolution upto 1600 x 900. It also has DX11 Support!

this man speaks the truth, great input, listen up OP

yes u r right the ATi 6770 is really a great card with awesome performance.but there is a problem that 1GB of this model is very rare and i searched it.And also I ordered the dealer to bring a GTX 460 1GB because the lack of availability of those type of cards in orissa. but that freak forgot what to bring and he brought 1 gb of ati 5750 and a 512 mb of 6750.That's why i had to delay for more than 1 week.So again i was ordered another dealer to bring the GTX 460 and the ATi 6770 both 1 gb so that i could test it before buying and match the performance of both by playing games like crysis 2 in high settings.I think u should understand the problem.but the good news is that comp center will decrease the price of the cards for around 8000 to 9000 INR.so here i have to only choose the best graphics card from the two leading biggest rival of this time ATi and Nvidia
