Want to move win 10 back to SSD.

Hi there. So a couple years ago my pc shut down. Was right after microsoft released windows 10. It crashed hard and buggered up my SSD, or so I thought. Couple weeks ago I got my SSD running again and from what I can tell, it's completely healthy. Unfortunately that crash caused win 10 to go to my HHD. I want to use all my 1TB for my stuff. I know I dont have 800Gb of games or movies downloaded.
Want to move OS back to SSD.

Have read these topics. Pretty much explains what I need to do.

I won't clone as I don't know what exactly I need to keep for win10. Since i've been using win10 now for a couple years, do I need the original OEM? Or should I somehow try and keep that. When I bought pc it was win8 or win7, can't remember. I do have disk for it still.
Everything else on my HHD I can lose as I know that maybe a 150Gb of it I use.

Solution

Go through Disk Cleanup, and get rid of that windows.old.

You also have 72.2GB in .PAK. These are from a game?
Another 38.4GB in .mp4 media files.

Look...that's 600+GB right there.
Moving from one drive to another, you have two options.

1. A clean install on the new drive. This requires a reinstall of all your drivers and applications.

2. A clone operation. This migrates everything from the old drive to the new drive.

What size is the SSD?
How much total space is consumed in your current C drive?

My SSD is 125Gb. My HHD has over 800GB used. The issue being is I know what 200GB is, I have no idea what the other 600GB of used is. As far as I can see it's a bunch of gibberish.
I realize the SSD is on the small side but I plan on keeping ONLY win10 and a couple system monitors only like HWinfo and coretemp. Everything else I'll manually download to my hhd.
I already have have win 10 reinstall on disk.
Biggest thing I'm concerned about is the original oem. This pc is 6 years old and been running win10 for about 3 years now I think. And according to Microsoft, my main OS is win 10.

Well, your used space is about 10x what can be migrated into the 120GB SSD.

And there is no option to pick and choose.

So you either do some investigation and find out what is consuming all the space, or, do a clean install on the SSD.

An application like WinDirStat might help discovering what is on your drive.

WinDirStat
Install
Run As Administrator, selecting only that drive.
Post the output here.

And that is mostly a waste of an SSD. You want all your other applications on it as well.

But, if you already have it, so be it.

Thanks I'll look into that windirstat. I'll most likely use the SSD for other applications but I want to keep my games and movies on my hhd.
Unless that program you linked finds a bunch of unneeded garbage on my hhd. Then I'll just delete the garbage waste and keep only needed stuff.

Uninstall the game(s).

How much used space is on your drive?
Not free space....consumed space.

Well I got it down to 168GB. I'll just keep my hhd as my OS drive. Then purchase a bigger SSD at some point. Was thinking bout a 500gig SSD but that'll have to wait for some extra cash.
