Hello Friends,

I want to run one program on Windows 7 or later which is already installed on Windows ME.

I don't have .exe file to install so that I can install using compatibility mode.

Any help please? :pt1cable:

Thank you..

You can't run 'the program'. You have to run a whole WinMe installation in VMWare, with that program installed.
Windows program from ME or earlier (ME, 98, 95, 3.x) are extremely problematic because they use a different type of multitasking than modern programs. Those versions of Windows used cooperative multitasking - the program would take over the computer while it was running. This is why those versions of Windows had a horrible reputation for crashing - if the running program crashed, it took Windows down with it.

Modern versions of Windows use pre-emptive multitasking. The OS can take control back from the app (pre-empt it) at any time. Even if you can get a cooperative multitasking Windows program to run on Win 7, it probably won't run correctly as the OS might take control back when it's not expecting it, throwing off internal timers.

If you really want to do this, I'd recommend setting up a virtual machine running Windows ME (assuming you still have a copy somewhere), and installing the program on that. VMWare Player and VirtualBox are the two most popular free virtual machine programs for Windows.

Thanks you for your interest.

I have a program called "SRDmap + SDRcard 6.50", which is specifically designed for calculating plot or an area. I have found about the program that it has no newer version.

Thanks you for your interest.

My Windows ME is x86 (32bit) and now I am running Windows 7 with 32bit as well. I have just tried to copy whole folder from ME C drive to Windows 7.

It shows me "The MAPMSG.386 Device Driver is not loaded" error

What can I do for this one?

I've found several completely different things for:
"SRDmap" - flow charts, Scandinavian Rail Development...
and
"SDRcard" - Software Defined Radio.....

Is this currently installed in a running, working WinMe environment? If so, see if you can get that WinMe running in a VM instance.
Since you have no install media or anything, it would be VERY problematic getting that to run natively in Win 7.

Thanks you for your interest.

Yes, I have copy for Windows ME but I don't have .exe file to install my program, I just have installed program files in C drive.
As I want to run the program directly on OS, I would go with this option at last.

Yes, it is installed and running well in front of me.
VM option would be my last option.

And is there any software or anything like it takes all files and data and program files from whole computer specifically for that program and create install media or .exe file?

Thanks

I am sorry, but what I have is just running program and related files. I tried to find any info from that folder but I could not find it.

No, that does not exist. For WinMe, 7, 10, whatever...

Now...since this is an ancient program, installed in the early days of 'the Registry'...you might be able to just copy the whole folder where it is installed and run it.
But then this might not run within Win 7.

Only way to know is to try.

Can you provide a screenshot of it?

Here is screenshots

I gave a try to copy from ME and run into 7, did not succeed.

Thanks

A google search for "sdr mapping and design" leads to many more recent versions, but not necessarily from the actual publisher.
Version 8.2 seems to run in Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10.

I do not know how to make your old v6.5 in WinMe to be able to run in Win 7.

That's ok...

I'll give a try to that one.

Thank you for help.. :)

Thank you for your interest.

At last I'm going to do that.... :)

Thanks.
