want to upgrade cpu mb with current components

I want to upgrade my current systems cpu, mb and psu, but keep all of my current components listed below. What combination of micro atx mb, cpu and psu would be my best bang for the buck here? Budget is $150-200.

If you upgrade to AMD AM2 or Intel new boards you'll need a new Graphic card because all the new boards use PCIe X16 GPUs and even with a mobo with onboard video, you'll have a tough time keeping it under $200 given you'll need new memory as well. You'd be better off waiting until you have at least $300 to $400 and can upgrade to a dual core CPU. If you went with AMD AM2 with a really inexpensive Sempron and onboard 6100 video, probably ASRock or Biostar, you might be able to do it with a cheap PSU.

I tried to do a Power Search for an AMD AM2 mobo with AGP and DDR RAM on newegg.com but for what ever reason it doesn't work on this computer but I'm pretty certain the answer is no. The memory is DDR2 with 240 pins while your RAM has 184 pins and will not fit an AM2 mobo and I don't think there are any AM2 mobo with AGP. With the AM2 Sepron and DDR2 RAM the machine will be faster that what you have now but you should get at least 1GB of memory. If you must upgrade with $200, I'd suggest getting a mobo with 6150 onboard video, ASUS has a nice one for about $85 and ABIT for about $95, 1 GB of Kingston RAM (inexpensive and I've never had a problem with it), and the best Sempron you can afford with the idea of upgrading the CPU as soon as possible and getting a video card when you can afford it.

Makes sense. If you can save $300 to $400, you can get a nice mobo, CPU, and RAM.

well, this doesn't include the psu, but I did something similar, going from a Celery 2.4 with 1 gb pc3200 and a radeon 9800pro.

Asrock 4coredualvsta (I got the 775 dual, but this one lets you use a 4 core proc later for an extra $2.00) $60.00
The board has ddr and ddr2 slots (can't use both at once though) and agp and pcie (4x only) for video.

Intel e4300 dual core 1.8 $169.00

The motherboard lets you reuse your ram and video card. I promptly overclocked it from 1.8 to 2.4 on the stock heatsink/fan. But I already had a 380Watt psu for my radeon so.... you would have to spend a little more, more like $300. But I didn't have to buy new ram, new vid, etc...

If the prices on the procs drop next month or so, you may be able to get the proc for much less, so maybe $200 would be possible.

Plus, you can buy a quad core if you wanted next year, or a pcie card (the motherboard has both agp and pcie) the pcie only runs at 4x, but iirc from all the articles I've read, it didn't make that much of a difference with the last batch of cards.

PSU - with the above componants YOU DON'T NEED IT, the power draw will actually be less than your current system. You will need to upgrade if you get a high end gfx card some time in the future, but not now. Also a nice feature of the motherboard is that is has an old style 20pin ATX connector, garenteed to work with older PSU's.
