Want to upgrade cpu or gpu

I currently have an AMD Phenom II x4 955 cpu and a GeForce gtx 1050 gpu.
I've been wanting to upgrade my pc to be more suited for gaming, but I don't know what component to replace first.

Any ideas?

Cpu but that means new motherboard and RAM. You cpu is very weak by modern standards, the 1050 is an ok entry level gpu that can play all games. No point upgrading the gpu as your current cpu may even be holding back the 1050.
