I currently have a gtx1050ti and an amd fx6300, i really want to upgrade my cpu to that of a Ryzen or a i5 cpu but i will have to buy a new motherboard and ddr4 ram which is wayyyyy out of my price range at the moment.

Any suggestions for what i could upgrade to?

imo, save up first

as for the performance, these might help:
1. try to lower down the CPU demanding settings, like foliage, draw distance, and crank up the GPU settings instead to try and balance the hardware usage
2. close any unused background apps to ensure your CPU is not disturbed by other apps
3. try the window's new game mode: which essentialy focusing your PC's resource onto the game, it might help
4. clean up your PC [both software and hardware] in some case, this might affect your performance [and cooling] too
5. if all the things above failed, just try your best to keep up with it till u have enough budget to afford a whole new platform 😀
You need a full platform upgrade. New mobo and RAM are required in any case. If DDR4 memory and latest ryzens are out of your budget, you could possibly find a used i5 from 4th gen (say, i5 4460 or similar) with corresponding motherboard (say, H81, B85, H97) and it will accept your current DDR3 memory. It is certainly an upgrade, but the hardware is not new and you will have to test everything thoroughly.

would i see any performance increases at all running on that sort of setup?

yeah im just really aiming to get a solid fps on PUBG, which at the moment im averaging at like 50-60fps, but it keeps stuttering in areas on the map that have a lot of buildings to render in. I'm also not too familiar with overclocking and considering i only have the stock fan on my cpu im not sure if it would even be worth it.

I have to strongly disagree on this part. His cpu has downright awful per-thread performance, and although it is good enough for 1050Ti, i.e. for GPU-bound games, it is a liability in any recent CPU-intensive game, so better CPU would certainly help him to improve FPS. Especially for PUBG (which is very CPU intensive, partly due to poor coding).

The biggest problem seems to be his budget, though.

Yep, if he has ~$250 budget, I definitely suggest him change to Ryzen 3/B350 mb/ 8gb ddr4 combo. OCing is the cheapest option if applicable. I just want to see if OCing can provide some improvements while he can save more for the new parts.

What would you say would be a solid upgrade but is decent for the price? I've been looking at some bundles and a few have seemed alright (i will probably have to save money for a while but just seeing what's worth it):

like these two for example.

If you have a good motherboard and PSU it might be worth buying a decent cooler if you don't have one and overclocking your 6300 while you save for a modern platform. Unless you can pick up a really cheap deal investing in an old Intel setup feels like a false economy, you will most likely end up wanting to upgrade again in the not to distant future.
