Want to Upgrade My PC. Please Guide !!

Hello presently i have a computer, Compaq Presario CQ3370IX. And want to upgrade my cpu. but it can't be upgraded becuase my motherboard i think cannot support i5 and above 4 gb ram 🙁

So i am thinking to buy motherboard, extra ram and processor only in order to upgrade my pc. Harddisk, 3 gb ram, graphic card (ati hd 6450), dvd writer i will use from my present PC, so want to know that can i use this ?

Also want to know that do i have to buy cpu cabinet also ? or i can use present one ?

Please guide me, i am very much confused. I am planning to buy tomorrow !!

if you are going to buy a new motherboard for your new processor you need to make sure its compatible to the RAM you have now. GPU is fine as well as the hard drive. if you buy the same form of mobo you have now it will fit on your current computer case.

Depending on budget I'd go the Z97-Gryphon or the Z97M-Plus from Asus

Now i am thinking to buy a tower cup cabinet so that i could not suffer heating problem. and for motherboard please tell that motherboard which is available in India. If possible tell all things (psu,fan,processor,mobo,ram) i am assembling new cpu now. I have presently hdd, graphic card, dvd writer, 3 gb ddr3 ram only !!

As far as I can see that PSU won't work. I'd recommend getting an i5 4440/4460/4590 (whatever is the cheapest, kinda) paired with a b85 board (cheaper than h97) if you don't need the large form factor (most b85 boards are matx). That's cheaper and leaves room for the psu. A decent 450w one will do.

For HD 6450 the PSU is fine you dont need to change it HD 6450 has only 27 watt of TDP.

You can but dont go too cheap on it. Its a very imporant part of any build. They have you very good options "Tier One, Tier Two Class B... So, take a look at that.
