Im wanting to build a server and have ESXi on it and virtualize Server 2008 and FreeNAS. I'm mostly wanting to use my server for backups and streaming music and movies. I was wondering if you guys could recommend some good hardware to build it.

Thanks
Adam

Personally from what you said, It wouldn't need a killer system for just that, I would go with a quad at the vary least for under 100.

$94.99 Quad core APU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103943

$59.99 FM1 Mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128530

$29.99 DDR3 ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148488

$94.99 1TB hdd http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148321

$16.99 DVD drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204

$64.99 550 watt psu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016

$69.99 case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163112

$431.93 without shipping.

This might be a lil overkill, your could probably use a dual core, but I quite recommending dual cores to anybody as they are showing their age.

But then again, you could go all out with a dual CPU board, and a crazy amount of ram. This was just for an home type of server, nothing to crazy and will multi-task just fine.

Goodluck!
