Question Wanting to build a gaming Pc but have no idea where to start, I’ve watched thousands of pc building videos but can’t decide on any parts.

I’m wanting to build a pc for intense gaming. My budget is at most $800. I don’t care for fancy cases or cooling systems as long as it’s functional.

I want parts that I won’t have to change for the next 5-8 years but aren’t brand new because the price will drop anyway for those parts in 2-3 years.

Could someone give me a few ideas for some builds, I’ll be playing helldivers 2 and a lot of open world online games, and lot of first person shooters, plus some streaming and using other apps while gaming.

Hi,
Maybe AM4 and a 6700xt. 5700x and 5600 are good value. 16gb ram, 650-750w PSU, a 1tb nvme stick, $60 case, $30 fan. There are several good mobos at $100 for AM4 right now. You've got this.

Are there any down sides to this build you can think of? How long would you say before I’d want to upgrade certain parts? Can it multi task /for example: gaming/ streaming at the same time? Can I use it with VR and will the frame rate keep up with most high frame games? Also is it loud or barely noticeable?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the build setup.

These are questions you have to answer for yourself. What do you need to do with the machine? What performance do you want? If there's a quality aspect to it, what hard figures would you need/want?

The person who made that list might be happy with that build, but if it's missing something you wanted, then we can't figure that out unless we know.

It's the best I could do with your budget. Most posters that have your expectations have a larger budget .. as in 1500+ quid.

5-8 years is really asking a lot at that price point in my opinion. But the build above may not be a bad option. If it isn’t much more you may opt for the 7600xt with the 16gb vram. If you stick to 1080p it may do fine for a while. At least with the Intel 12th gen you could always drop in a 13th or 14th gen CPU later and upgrade the graphics card as desired etc. on gpu though you may opt for the older 6750xt or 6700xt.

Is this better than the one you gave me, if not please provide changes that need to be made.

Mostly going for gaming for high fps, using 2k
$1,200 is my new budget

Also which windows would you suggest I get?

This looks fine. Instead of getting an SSD, try to get an nvme, maybe western digital brand, samsung, etc.
You also may want the non 'f' skew of the 12400, as it provides integrated CPU graphics that can help with troubleshooting and use quicksync if you edit videos.
The motherboard is a little expensive for your budget, but probably a decent board. One thought is if you could shave off some money on the mobo you could put it towards the 6800 GPU which is around $380, even used would be ok, a 3080 used might be a good choice too. You're going to like the performance of that GPU price point more is my hunch.

Pretty good setup, probably would go with a different PSU, the GRE is a good option, got my Challanger GRE for 539$ .
