Wanting to download Geforce Experience on Linux Mint 18.1

Hello. I received a code to download a free game through Geforce Experience, however I am currently running Linux Mint 18.1. I attempted to run the install with Wine as well, and that did not work. Is there any way I can activate my code?

I wouldn't want to game with Wine any wyas. It's not meant for that. You need a native Windows in order to do that.

So when you get a game through GFE you have to run it through that, you cannot use Steam?

Depends on how the game is. Again, I wouldn't recommend gaming on Wine because it isn't designed for that. Is there a reason you are using Linux and not Windows?

Just wanted to change it up, built a new PC. And my main concern was not to game on wine, but to just run the program on wine to claim my code, then run the game normally on Linux Mint.

It's almost certainly a Windows game and won't run on Linux.
