I know it's been out a while. I just tried it. It stinks! It's like they just didn't get anything right. The story is lame, really cheesy and dull. I think the graphics engine just isn't all there. CnC Generals looks much more promising as a true 3d RTS. I was surprised...Blizzard's been good in the past. What do you think?

Yeah. They were a bit behind. It's kind of sad. I have a lot of respect for Blizzard and the products they've released. The game engine they had was just too poor for the time. As you say, two years too late. Hopefully it was just a stitch in time. Upgrading to pure 3d may have been just a hurdle for them.

The plot was kind of lame too though. Too specific, if that is a good way to describe it. Warcraft 2's plot was more epic and generic. I dunno. I'd expect quality from them in the future. They have not lost my patronage.

The worst thing they did was not randomise the creeps. The same type is always in the same spot.
However, I think these is one of the best looking games (graphically), as far as RTS's go.
Anyway, nothing will ever beat TA! 😉

wc3 is awesome man! I'd say its the best strategy game out there right now. Yeah the story was a little lame at times, but mplayer is still a lot of fun.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...tweak it.

just play on battle net for a while and you will see tons of different strategies.... orc tower rushes, mass spell casters for humans or orcs. (there are spells that increase armor and attack rate, polymorph, etc), archmage harrassing, (take out peons/peasants/acolytes/wisps with blizzard). mass dryads, 3 heros focus, mass base defense, mass steamtanks, mass air units.....the list goes on and on...

In my opinion, warcraft 3 was a decent game, and while there are better graphics out there, I didn't feel the lack really badly. The control interface is great, and the campaign levels were varied.

What warcraft 3 was missing was heart. It just didn't have the same "feel" of the original diablo, or of warcraft 2. The good versus evil idea lost out considerably when orcs became good, elves became moody, undead became evil, and humans became insane rampaging death knights.

However, the game suffered the most from the loss of the narrator. Warcraft 2 had an EXCELLENT way of advancing the story: the very well voice acted narrator at the start of every level, who varied between rather funny and quite dramatic, and explained why you were doing what you were doing very well. THe dialogues between characters that replaced it just doesn't have the same feel, in my opinion, and I was VERY sorry to see it disappear.

Oh, and as for multiplayer? I did some lan gaming, but with the advent of sappercraft, I decided I had better things to do that spend my time on battlenet. I don't argue that warcraft 3 is a bad multiplayer game, I just didn't spend much time on it multiplayer personally.

It was definitely missing heart. Blizzard seems to have stagnated with that release. I call it the 'George Lucas Syndrome'. He once had good, well-implemented ideas (Star Wars, Indiana Jones) but now his creative process has become, for lack of a better term, completely gay. I think it has to do with a lack of fresh ideas. That intro movie for War3 with the stupid drum-beating orc-whatever was SOOOO godawful and lame.

Looking at the prices for the game (originally $60, now already as low as $20 - cheaper than Diablo2), I can't see it as having sold nearly as well as its predecessor. Hopefully, that will be evidence enough for Blizzard to get their act together.

The game annoyed me so quickly that I never even made it to multiplayer. The voices and sounds were just absurdly annoying. The graphics weren't that great either and since I had already played Dungeon Siege II by the time I got to WCIII, I was really dissapointed with the game. It seemed meant for 10 year olds. It lacked the humor and fun of the second one and it was just such a let down from what they promissed 5 years ago.

Warcraft III isn't a bad game. I actually enjoy it. The thing I don't like about it is the AI. When they created the game they really screwed up the AI. The game is easier to play with the AI on the Normal Difficulty. They really cheat when they are on easy. It is almost impossible to create an army in the beginning. Especially when the AI already has a complete town and a massive army. I don't understand Blizzards reasoning for the AI.

i think that warcraft was a great game and i dont see why you hate it so much, the only problem with it is that you cannot set the difficulty level of the computer when playing in single game against the computer, the only way i found to beat the computer is to cheat cause its to bloody hard, ccommand and conquer generals is great, looks wicked and i am yet to play the game, ill let you know my opions on that game when i get it,()two days might i ad)

God made adam and eve not adam and steve!!!!!!

Warcraft and Warcraft 2 were great. Warcraft 3 I didn't like. Just my opinion. I'm curious how people will take to CnC Generals, considering Westwood Studios (RIP) is now dead.

Yes, it's a great looking game. I thought the end sucked, but the game looks damn good.

If you ever play it, don't add too many party members. The game gets too easy and kinda dull if your party is too large. Go at it alone if you want to have fun.

I only see Dungeon Seige out at the moment; no DSII......are you talking about some other similarly-titled game?

I...I....I think I've lost my mind.

I've always thought it was II. I even labeled the cd as Dugeon Seige II.

I guess it's not.

Either way, it's a cool looking game.

yeah, there's no sequel to Gas Powered Games's Dungeon Siege... yet.

Warcraft III was good, not even comparable to the earlier 2 however. I liked the way one could upgrade their heroes, but annoyances like the dreaded upkeep and predictable creeps hindered the game. I still think it was the best RTS of 2003.

An expansion for it will be out by June: Throne of Ice or something like that.
