Hey Guys, first of all, I have been a great fan of this community. I have been able to find answers to most of the issues I have ever faced so never felt the need to create a post, so this is the first one. In short, thanks for awesomeness that this forum is.

ANyways, I have a series 6 samsung TV and it works great. I use it as a secondary Monitor mostly though.

At 1600x900 rez it works great. Text is bit fuzzy but that is an issue with every TV.

Problem is that if I try to up the rez to Full HD then colors appear washed out. I have tried it with my Laptop and tried it with my new PC. But as it is same for both I am sure it has nothing to do with hardware as both , my PC and laptop work great with my Plasma TV. So what can be the issue here?
Any help is welcome.

Thanks

what resolution does your primary monitor run at? if 1080p...

you could try to first set the tv to 1080p in monitor settings (just for safety's sake in case you get some weird issue)

next you could disconnect your primary display and plug in the television. do you have any issues?

if no try plugging in the primary display into the other port and setting it as a secondary display.

try also setting the primary display as the secondary display while keeping it in the original output port. change the secondary to primary as well.

if possible swap cables on them as well for all the tests. this would give you 6 seperate scenarios to list your findings on.

doing this will help to see if its a hardware limitation of the gpu, something...
what is the actual model number of the television?

you say that your laptop and pc both work great with your plasma television yet you state that you have problems with your television. is the samsung series 6 a plasma tv or do you have 2 television sets?

you state that you are running the tv at 1600x900.... what is the actual resolution of the tv? you should only ever use the tv at its native resolution. if it is 1080p you should run it at 1920x1080.

the first thing to do would be to go through the tv menu and set everything to defaults. disable any special color correction modes and special features. make sure you arent on "vivid", "theater" or some other display mode. i have my tv set up as "custom" so i can swap back and forth with the other modes if i feel the need. set your video card settings to default for the tv as well. the next thing to do (again, make sure you are at your tv's native resolution first) is calibrate your television with the gpu software.

typically this involves sliding some colored bars around and adjusting the black level.

does this improve anything at all?

if not, have you tried using a higher quality hdmi cable or if you use a dvi to hdmi adapter have you tried using a different one?

also make sure you have everything plugged in correctly and that no connectors are loose.

i've heard of washed out colors from bad cables before.

if you arent using hdmi please state how you connect.

It's Samsung 22es5000.

Yes I do, Plasma is in living room that I occasionally use for gaming and Samsung in my Home Office.

Not running TV at 1600x900, That is the rez I have to choose on PC for the secondary display otherwise it appears washed out. So it is running on Native resolution but the input is lower than the max output I can get. Its like running SD content on HD TV, don''t see how that can do any harm?

I have tried that, I have tried setting up custom settings but it just doesn't work. My usual settings are custom too cause inbuilt settings for TV are not good enough to read text.
I will try again with adjusting output via GPU SOftware but it didnt seem to work last time I tried.

It could be HDMI Cable but Its supposed to be a quality cable cause I bought it for $20 or something.

tbph i use a $20 cable and it works fine. i've just heard of issues. try to run the above tests as best you can.
