ok lets see.. how many of you can keep changing hardware? i.e. buy a new mobo, a new processor, and a 3 way sli card every 6 months??
well in US you may be stinking rich.. every man maybe a richie rich.. but the whole world is not!! im asking the programmers to keep the common PC in mind when programming HD games.. i am not against any upgrades.. i say its good but constant upgrade is what i dont like. just one mega-jumbo upgrade would do good rather simply updating point by point.. today one is good tomorrow its old. feels retarded. the guy who purchased today a nice rig finds that he has the most obsolete rig right the next day feels cheated! and not everyone is rich like you remember.. graphics are manufactured in USA are the cheapest. if you convert it currency wise.. the gtx 580 costs around 300 usd is just 12000 INR but here in relality its selling for around 25000 INR!! wtf!!

graphics are absolutely SICK.!!
nVidia / CUDA / phys-X - is how I roll.
I'll take the game on..

i5-760 @ 3.4GHz
8GB DDR3 1600MHz Corsair Vengeance
GTS 240 (OEM) - dedicated ph-x
GTX 560Ti - EVGA - clocked

I rather have GTX 580 but couldn't fit into budget, not in upgrade budget either... LOL

call me when gameplay looks like that and doesn't have to be ran on a 5k plus computer and waste shit tons of electricity just to heat up the room. additionally how exactly did a mouse and keyboard give the character instructions to do that?

lol...wow...that'll push NVidia and ATI/AMD to improve their hardware :-O

That's amazing...no more jagged faces from low triangle count tesselation...realistic dynamic shadows....

[citation][nom]unionoob[/nom]sadly its on youtube and stream quality will be bad Is there anywhere to download 1080p video instead of youtube?[/citation]

It's available at 1080p if you go to the video's source. Youtube's been able to stream 1080p for a while now.

[citation][nom]chomlee[/nom]I'm a little confused. Is this real time rendering? Or, is it a CGI trailer that took hours to render. If it is real time, then I am impressed and can't wait to play a game that has these kinds of graphics. If it is not then this is stupid.[/citation]

yes this thing was rendered in real time. this is the tech demo that EPIC showed behind the closed door back at GDC. maybe we will see this kind of graphic in future games but as of now you need at least 3 GTX580 to run it on real time XD

[citation][nom]illuminatuz[/nom]There are people who want to play!! not just watch!! use this technology in making MOVIES!!! or atleast use simpler algorithms so that our graphics cards can ease out a little instead of so much complex ones that throws our brand new pc look like an old 1900's scrap!!![/citation]

Call of Duty 2 for you. :) We've come a long way since Pong and Space Invaders. WOOT!

[citation][nom]illuminatuz[/nom]dude.. c'mon im not being retarded.. i mean not everyone is rich like you guys.. think of those who cant afford and all.. if there is pirated releases for ps and xbox.. even ill buy 'em!! but thats not the thing.. hardware must give a good upgrade over a period of time a major update would do rather doing small updates over a period of time continuously..[/citation]

so just because of broke tards like you everyone else has to wait another 10 years to get better graphics in our games? get out of your parents basement and get a job for god sake.

kind of think of it sounds like he will never get a job or a better one so we are forced to have PS3/XBOX graphics for the rest of eternity

I cant believe the ammount of comments on here that are actually angry that it looks better than current software. Really? Look at all the benchmarks of all the crappy console ports, at moniter resolution almost every game now is up in the hundreds of fps with current gen graphics cards. there are very few exceptions to that, and yet we need to constrain software so that it still looks like 5 or six year old games?
Toms is always forced to set resolutions to ridiculous ammounts just to show that the hardware is being strained, if a great looking game comes out that actually uses the potential of even current gen hardware, I for one welcome the hell out of it. If it is beyond your computers limits, dont buy the game, pretty simple. Its been a long time since a real leap in software has happened, and you guys are complaining, for shame Toms readers 🙂

Pc gamers need to organize a customer group. Right now we are just individuals relying on different types of media outlets for info and feedback.
Maybe a PC gamers need a league, to organize their likes and dislikes. ( I hate the term “organize” sounds like a union, and I hate unions! )
As I see it, we can bitch/make recommendations on sites like this, or on the actual developers website, but that doesn’t seem to have much weight behind it. I think our concerns about PC games and there progression would be better vocalized by an organization, instead of individual rants or emails.
I’m not talking protesting, petitions, or boycotts, just a group PC gamers united, to show developers that we are still a viable platform.
Wouldn’t feedback from such a group be beneficial to developers and the end user?
I don’t know………..maybe it sounds stupid. I can just see it now, the SEIU taking over, riots over crappy graphics in PC games, people protesting outside game developers studios, banging drums and blowing horns, chanting “stop dumbing our games down for outdated consoles!”
On second thought…. this is a stupid idea :)

I think developers would take it more seriously if there was less piracy and gamers actually bought the product to put money back into the development of newer products. If PC gamers want better games/technology then quit pirating games (not saying every gamer does) but the more money the company receives from the consumer the more money they will put into development, like Hollywood and all the stupid sequels to movies that make over half a mil.

True, piracy is a problem, but more people pirate movies than PC games.
I'm going out to get Dragon Age II for PC. $59.96 ouch!
i would never pay that much for a movie.

[citation][nom]illuminatuz[/nom]man!! before you make any more of such engines that can make a new PC go down the lane by 10 years, mention the minimum/recommended PC requirements to play it!! Its a pain in the ass to keep upgrading the PC every now and then!! leave PS and XBOX alone!!! FFS don't get so n00b!!! There are people who want to play!! not just watch!! use this technology in making MOVIES!!! or atleast use simpler algorithms so that our graphics cards can ease out a little instead of so much complex ones that throws our brand new pc look like an old 1900's scrap!!!! please for god's sake!!![/citation]
Yes lets stop the progression of technology so this guy doesn't have to upgrade his computer. Lets all get an Apple IIe and hack it to play Online Oregon Trail.

Does look pretty good. But that's what I expect from future graphic engines. I laughed at the irony of it being on Xboxtv. Maybe in a couple more generations of Xbox.

As I see it...If the game will be released for the current consoles XBOX360 and PS3, then they will have to cap the lower end specs for 720p as the consoles can't do many games above that.
That means if you can run all the current games at high or max resolution, then you should have no problems with this newest engine or this game if and when it comes out.
As for upgrading components...I'm not rich and currently unemployed, but I dedicate to upgrading what I feel is necessary every 3 to 5 years, depending on how my system is currently running.
Only enthusiasts upgrade when there's new components or hardware...they have the money and they are the ones who effectively drive the prices down for the rest of us...so, don't bash the money spenders!

"it's amazing to think that something like this is possible with readily available hardware. Now all we need is the software."

Available on PC yes, the rest of the gamin comunity - not so much! But considering how much the games can scale with a good engine and a developer with some know how the "wannabe" gamers can play it on their consoles with autoaims ect while the real gamers on their PC power rigs can play the game as its supposed to with maximum detail! A win for all!

[citation][nom]f-14[/nom]isn't this a repeat news article?cripes the 8.9 japan quake is more news then this will be as it's going to affect parts manufacturing and supply for the next year atleast!why is Tom's repeating old news?[/citation]
They only had screen shots in the first article. Someone said they need to use this technology to make movies...umm movie animation is already way past this...ever see Transformers for example? This is tech for computer hardware not movies and I will add that is sweet. They have done animated movies also that are more realistic than this also...Beowulf had some parts in it that it was hard to tell whether is was a real person or animation. Look up AMD Cinema 2.0 also as this technology is way beyond this also...there is a sample clip with a digital reporter girl...there is no way to tell she is animated...none.

[citation][nom]unionoob[/nom]sadly its on youtube and stream quality will be bad Is there anywhere to download 1080p video instead of youtube?[/citation]
The 720p version is high enough quality!
Even the 360p version looks great, almost like HD, you can see almost every detail including single hair strands!
I'd suggest you to stop whining, and enjoy the detail!

Some of the posts here are funny... like people couldn't read the words in the article. Things like "this will run on my 8800GT" is... a riot.

The video you see on youtube is of a game engine demo, not a game. Its rendered in REAL-TIME from a desktop PC using THREE Gefore 580s. That's about $1500 in gaming cards alone. That level of detail will not happen on an xbox360 or any other current console.

BUT, consoles coming out in 2~3 years from now should have GPUs with the 2-3x the horse power of todays top graphic cards.

And don't forget its a tech demo. So poorly written code abound in it. In 3 years of optomizations it'll be able to run on a single entry level card at the same 480P resolution CoD black ops : blacker than black 2 in space! Will run on the by then 8 year old 369
