water cooling reservoir buildup

Sorry to ask so many water cooling questions, but I can't find a straight answer on this one:

I saw the same pump at my local computer store with a similar issue, just a tad less sever.

My pump res combo has some light white buildup in spots.... usually wherever the coolant levels would sit. I have only used XSPC EC6 coolant, which from what I understand is pretty harmless. I have done flushes with only distilled water and primochill PC base. Right now I am running some Primochill sysprep to see if that does anything.

The only spot I see this stuff is on the reservoir... my fittings look clean and my block and tubes have no buildup either... is this just leftover crap from my radiator sticking in there?

Don't worry, it's usually just slight build up of the chemicals in the coolant, small amounts of coolant evaporate, leaving this harmless residue behind at the water line, the stuff wipes off easily enough-at least in my setup-and won't build up else where as long as the system is fully bled of air bubbles.

Hmm well that is re assuring... it does not wipe down too easily though... I tried using a cotton swap in the top of my pump/res.
It is an Enermax Neochanger... you can't really take it apart to clean the res out. Is there anything I can do to remove the stuff without putting like vinegar into my components?

man, I'm sorry it might sound like bashing, but I have to ask: "how did you manage to buy all those weird parts for your custom water cooling loop like TT and enermax ?"
like you invested tones energy and may be money in all the coolant and sysprep and other not important things like flashing with distilled water. and yet you ended up with some very important parts (CPU block, pump and res) of very questionable quality. TT tried to get into custom liquid cooling about 10 years ago and had to withdraw due to reliability/quality issues. There are many companies that can be trusted with custom liquid cooling for PC, but those two are not there. I'd actually black list them.

I went with thermaltake because I like the looks of the block. You kinda need distilled water for water cooling... how is that a waste of money?
The sysprep came with the tubing box...so I didn't buy that on its own
I have had lots of positive experiences dealing with Thermaltake customer service... so quite honestly I know they are ganna back me. Enermax makes a great pump dude... and its a good price. It has nothing but positive reviews.
Its my first custom loop, wanted to do it my way and if i didn't have random issues that no one else has I wouldn't be on here asking for some input.

I don't care for the looks of most of the other AM4 water blocks out there... as for the XSPC radiators, I just went with what my local shop has in stock. Primochills fittings are on sale right now thats why I did those.

Your post is not bashing, but is a un deserved shot. Bash away though man, doesn't matter to me. Just had some questions. New to custom loop cooling.

I'm doing custom loops for over a decade :) and not here to bush. just to help people to avoid liquid cooling related mistakes due to myths, misconceptions etc.
everything below does not mean that you should throw away what you have and get new staff. On contrary, I'm happy to learn about your experience. may be even help to figure out the issues you have.

good pumps are D5 and DDC (regardless of the brand label). though later have much more versions. Enermax might be decent, it's just you can get proven and reliable D5 combo for just a bit more.
CPU blocks from aquacomputer or EK are proven to be excellent and have variations for almost any taste.
Radiators have a huge impact. HWlabs is #1 when it comes to performance alphacool when it comes to size (they often have the smallest footprint for a fan size).
flushing components is just fine with warm tap water. basically you put the rad under tap to do pre installation flushing.

anyway, there is always some residue in loops when anything but distilled water is used. usually it's harmless unless it's some goo staff that can block waterbolocks microchannels usually from red colored coolants. you will find it even on orings and threads of fittings after long enough use.

Oh nice man. Thanks for that info. Glad to know the residue is nothing to worry about.
Frozen CPU is right down the road from me, they highly recommend the Enermaxpump and had them in stock, same with the XSPC radiators. The thermaltake block however I bought somewhere else on my own. They do not recommend Thermaltake either.

I just happen to like that brand even though most people don't. Just a thing I got goin on. I am pretty unlucky with products, I have bought many defective things from many brands in many hobbies haha. I'm just that guy. Thanks for the input man!

It does not sir. The only thing hitting the water is copper brass and nickel plated copper. No aluminum. So yes I guess the metals are mixed... but they are XSPC radiators which has brass for contacts... the fittings are plated brass and the block is plated copper... so the only real bare metal in there is brass. The buildup is in my fittings too... I am noticing.

you know... I don't think the buildup was caused by the coolant.
When i started using the coolant about a month ago, I took a piece of PETG, and filled it up with the EC6 coolant and sealed off the ends.. just to see how it would effect the tubing over time.
There is absolutely zero buildup inside this tube... nor is there in the other three different pieces of tubing I did this test with. No discoloration NOTHING.... the buildup must either be the distilled water I bought from the pharmacy, or stuff leftover from the radiator... I did pre clean the heck out of it though and never saw any sediment.

Still not sure why I have this buildup.

I wish you could just post pictures right on this forum... unless there is a way to do it that I don't know of. I can try a googledrive link, not sure that will work, but i'll try and do a share link.

Thanks for the help with the residue. Glad there is nothing to worry about.
The box contained an AM upgrade kit, and a crinkled up STAPLES paper.... I think someone might have opened the box, took all the stuff out and re wrapped it...

Left with no computer again for another week... idk what is going on with amazon prime 2 day shipping... but they wait like three days to ship it!
