Hi all!
I have a Taxan Ergovision 750 TCO95 17" Monitor. Recently, i have noticed a 'wave' going across the screen, about 10mm wide, diagonally. It is most visible when the monitor is displaying dark colours. It also flashes off for a couple of seconds at a time, even though all the cables are in fine. It looks like magnetic interference, but my stereo speakers are at least 3 ft away. I've tried moving the speakers away completely but the problem remains. Changing the refresh rate makes no difference. HELP!

Hi
It is a little difficult to say with certainty but this could be flyback lines you are seeing.
The monitor scans the screen from top left to bottom right. When the scan gets to the bottm of the screen it has to return to the top left of the screen and start again (flyback). It does this very quickly and no picture or information is drawn on the screen during this time. The screen is blanked during this time, Under certain fault conditions this blanking can become faulty or overidden. Showing white diagonal lines across the screen.
This can also happen near the end of a tubes life when certain adjustments can be made to increase the tubes light output reducing the pictures blanking effectiveness.

Try displaying a black screen, increase the contrat to max and then increase the brightness from nothing to max. You should see the flyback lines get progressivly worse.

It is most probably a faulty monitor.
I would take the monitor to a repair shop who should be able to tell immeadiately on viewing if it is flyback lines.
If it is you have to decide if it is worth repairing, if its over 5 years and had a lot of use you might as well buy a new one, the performance of monitors has improved some over the last few years.

thanks for that. i couldn't see the lines. It appears to happen when i've changed resolution, for example when loading a game.....
