WD 1TB My passport ultra making a clicking sound

Hey guys, I received a problem that whenever i plug in my external hard drive to the usb port it makes a loud clicking sound and the sound is almost equivalent to the sound of the mouse clicks. The indicator light blinks after sometimes the hard drive spinning stops and the light is stable and nothing happens after that. What's wrong with my hard drive? Can I get my data recovered ?? Because I had many games, movies, softwares on it and if the drive dies I will be losing the whole thing which I collected within years. Please help me.

If the clicking is that loud, the only likely way to get the data back is by expensive professional recovery.

As usual, if the data is important, back it up!

I just tried opening it an clean environment with no dust partcles fallen in to the hard drive and noticed that the head is sticking to the platters i turned the platters to the counter-clockwise and gently pulled the heads away with a tool. Now whenever i power it up again the heads sticks to the surface of the platters.

The drive has some mechanical flaw.
I would agree with mrmez and say that you will need to contact a data recovery company in order to retrieve the data.
The thing is that, HDDS should be opened up in special rooms. So, in case the data is really important, you better look for some professional help.

Could be a head crash.

Have you dropped/hit the drive recently? HDDs could be easily damaged.
Even if you haven't, mechanical drives could just fail, in many cases, without a warning. This is why, you should always keep the data you can't afford to loose stored on at least two places.

I didn't dropped in brother anywhere but I doubt I gave that HDD to one of my friend he wanted some movies so I gave him I think he dropped it somewhere, btw there was very important documents like sensitive information like bank A/C, etc... The all DATA which are very sensitive if I can't recover I will be loosing all important DATA. 🙁

I can't really provide any suggestions on DIY data recovery methods. Taking into account all the information you've provided, I doubt that anybody else would be able to do so as well.
